Dana Sadava, conductor Aspirante Youth Orchestra

Dana Sadava has been conductor of the Santa Rosa Symphony Aspirante Youth Orchestra since 2018, after a 2017 appearance as guest conductor. A conductor of operatic and symphonic repertoire, she has worked at Opera San Jose, University of California San Diego, Wexford Opera (Ireland), Indianapolis Opera, Pensacola Opera, Cinnabar Theater, and Festival Opera. She is in her fourth season as both Artistic Director of Pasadena Opera (Los Angeles) and Music Director of the Community Women’s Orchestra (Oakland). Passionate about music education, Ms. Sadava has served on the music faculties of Banff Opera as Theatre and Napa Music Festival, and was recently appointed Director of Chamber Music at The Urban School in San Francisco. She studied conducting with Kenneth Kiesler at the University of Michigan, where she earned a Masters degree on a merit scholarship. She studied piano with Dorothy Hwang at the Colburn School and Gabriel Chodos at the Aspen Music Festival. Before delving into musical life, Ms. Sadava earned an undergraduate degree in aeronautics and literature from Caltech.
