Roustabout Theater

Roustabout Theater is the longest-running resident theater company of the Luther Burbank Center for the Arts.
Roustabout consists of a Professional Ensemble—presenting the Northern California premiere of Pulitzer Prize winner Tray Letts’ new play, “Mary Page Marlowe” in March—and its Apprentice Program, an unparalleled actor training program, which highlights the talents of the county’s most extraordinary student performers, ages 11 – 20, through award-winning, professionally-produced productions.
Roustabout’s Apprentice program has performed each year for the last seven years with the Santa Rosa Symphony at the Green Center and the Symphony’s Pops shows at LBC. The Apprentice program participants have also performed with three-time Tony Award-winner Jason Robert Brown, Broadway star Kristen Chenowith and American Idol’s Associate Musical Director Michael Orland. Other artists who have worked with these students include SF Ballet Principal Dancer Sofianne Sylve, New Dramatists playwright Eugenie Chan, Tony nominated Broadway composer/lyricst Andrew Lippa, and Opera composer Jake Heggie, among many others.
In addition, Roustabout Theater's Conservatory Classes provide ongoing training for its students in acting, vocal performance, diction, dialect, movement, dance, improv and stage combat.
Roustabout has been recognized with grants from Sonoma County Arts Council and Creative Sonoma, in addition to many Individual and Corporate Donors. Consequently, Roustabout has provided over $75,000 in scholarships through its Apprentice program and continues to provide support and encouragement to young, dedicated performers throughout Northern California.
