Santa Rosa Symphony Aspirante Youth Orchestra

During Shelter-in-Place, Aspirante Youth Orchestra meets online every Saturday morning via Zoom. This group will create a Virtual Concert recording to be presented in January.

Since all orchestras have plans to transition to in-person rehearsals with increasingly larger groups, the Institute’s goals are:

• Offer online music making and study

• Encourage social interaction and spark the love of music

• Supplement (and not compete with) music education offered in the public schools

• Provide a balance between ensemble playing and lecture

Founded in 1994 as the Discovery Orchestra under the baton of William R. Williams, the ensemble was renamed the Repertory Orchestra in 2011, and then again renamed the Santa Rosa Symphony Aspirante Youth Orchestra in 2018.

The Santa Rosa Symphony Aspirante Youth Orchestra expands the musical experience by providing an opportunity for intermediate to advanced students to perform a wide variety of repertoire within a full orchestra. Aspirante Youth Orchestra members are expected to have private instruction on their instrument and follow a regular practice routine. To qualify, students must have been playing their instrument a minimum of three years and have prior ensemble experience at least one year in the Debut Youth Orchestra or the equivalent. Approximate age of orchestra members is 12-18 years.
