Guest soloist in the Rachmaninoff is 17-year old award-winning pianist Misha Galant, a senior at California High School in San Ramon. He is currently a student of Professor Yoshikazu Nagai of the San Francisco Conservatory. Misha’s playing has been described by the TheaterJones Performing Arts Review as “absolutely charming, sharp, clear, intelligent and stylish.”
This year alone, Galant won the Livermore-Amador Symphony competition, the 3rd prize and Audience Prize at the Eastman Young Artists International Piano Competition, and was soloist with the Rochester Philharmonic. He also was awarded the Audience Prize and the Best Classical Sonata Performance Prize in the first Junior Van Cliburn competition in Ft. Worth, Texas.
