2021 - 2022

About the Concert

Pioneering visionary David Krakauer offers the world premiere of his concerto for klezmer clarinet, The Fretless Clarinet, co-composed with Kathleen Tagg. The piece references Krakauer’s passionate and highly personal sound world, which comes from the music of his Eastern European Jewish roots, mixed with a myriad of other influences. Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov’s beloved Scheherazade spins a seductive web of beguiling tales of exotic adventure and enchantment inspired by One Thousand and One Arabian Nights.

Klezmer music derived from and built upon eastern European music in the Jewish tradition

Concert Conversations with Francesco Lecce-Chong
