Maria Carrillo High School Wind Ensemble
The Maria Carrillo High School Wind Ensemble is the premiere wind band in Santa Rosa located at Maria Carrillo High School in the north east section of the city.
From its creation in 2016 as the only public honors band program in the city, the MCHS Wind Ensemble has routinely been awarded Unanimous Super ratings at CMEA state festivals. Students are passionate, driven, and remarkably talented in their exploration and creation of music. The conductor, Matt Bringedahl, has been the driving force behind the Instrumental Music program at MCHS and with the help of his colleague, Matthew Isais Bowker, working as the second director, the program has more than quadrupled in size since Bringedahl took over in 2012.
The ensemble has 17 students who have qualified for regional honor bands and 3 students who have qualified for All-State for the 2025-2026 school year. This audition-based class is the pinnacle of wind band music creation at MCHS.
