Andrew Lewis

Timpani

A C Lewis’ career has been a smorgasbord of percussing, teaching, composing, writing, managing a business, inventing metronomes, and conducting. A Bay Area native, he started drumming at UC Santa Cruz, began percussion and timpani at the SF Conservatory, moved to New York for years freelancing on Broadway and innumerable shows, bands and orchestras, moved to South America as Principal Timpanist for the Colombian National Orchestra, a year in New Zealand as Timpanist with NZSO, and back to SF for 20 years as Substitute Principal Timpanist and Percussionist with SFSO.

Other highlights include his daughter Sara, inventing a metronome, writing a book, and founding a business called RHYTHMSOURCE.

Formal education includes Lick Wilmerding High School, a Bachelors at SF Conservatory of Music, a Bachelors and Masters at Juilliard, Post-Grad diploma at Mannes, a teaching certificate, and two Masters in Conducting.

Presently he’s narrowed down his focus to his partner Diana, his spot as Prin, Timpanist with Santa Rosa Symphony, freelancing, composing, writing another book, creating DeepHipPocket and drumming.
