Mark Shannon

Clarinet

Mark Shannon is a freelance woodwind artist who spends time in San Diego working regularly with the San Diego Symphony as an extra clarinet and saxophonist. While staying in San Francisco, he works with the San Francisco Symphony, San Francisco Opera, San Francisco Ballet orchestras and the Santa Rosa Symphony. He finds that performing in both cities offers a welcome variety of musical adventures. One week it’s a recording session at Marin’s Skywalker Ranch, the next, it’s a week of orchestra music with the San Diego Symphony, then some chamber music and a jazz gig thrown in for more spice. “Variety is the key to a full musical life.”

Mark studied Clarinet with Donald Carrol at San Francisco State University, the former Bass Clarinetist with the San Francisco Symphony, and with Rosario Mazzeo at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, former Bass Clarinetist with the Boston Symphony.
