Before the Concert

Everyone here at the Santa Rosa Symphony wants you to enjoy your symphony concert experience. We know that the experience begins before you even purchase a ticket. We also know you may have some questions that need answers before you arrive at the concert. Where do we perform or how long is the concert? Here we’ve compiled a list of frequently asked questions. You can find more information in At the Concert. We are thrilled you will be joining us!

Are there places to dine and stay near the hall?

There are many wonderful places to dine and stay in Sonoma County. For your convenience, we have compiled a list. Please click here to view.

Is the Prelude Restaurant open?

Sadly, Prelude is closed until further notice.

Where do you perform exactly?

The Santa Rosa Symphony performs in the beautiful Weill Hall at the Green Music Center at Sonoma State University. The Green Music Center is located at the corner of Rohnert Park Expressway and Petaluma Hill Road. Need Directions? Here you go!

What time should I arrive?

We don’t want you to miss a thing! We recommend you be in your seat at least 10 minutes prior to the start time of the performance. If you’re attending the Classical Series concerts, the pre-concert talk begins one hour before the performance. Saturday & Monday performances begin at 7:30 pm and Sunday’s begin at 3:00 pm.

What if I am late?

As a courtesy to the performers and the audience, latecomers will not be seated until the earliest appropriate program break and/or at the discretion of the house manager and usher staff. Please wait at the door nearest your seat and an usher will escort you at the appropriate break in the performance.

What are good seats?

We are frequently asked this question, it’s a great one! A good seat can be subjective. Do you want to see the soloist or the whole orchestra? Do you want to watch Francesco or a particular instrument section? Do you want the best sight-lines or will you close your eyes and listen? Sometimes the answer to these questions will change with each concert. Weill Hall was designed to be acoustically rich, so no matter where you sit, your listening experience will be delightful. That said, for excellent sight lines and beautiful sound, we recommend Orchestra Center and Balcony Center. But if those areas are not available for your concert choice, don’t worry, every seat will offer a fabulous and unique experience. Enjoy!

What can I expect for price?

For Classical Series concerts single ticket prices ranges from $32-$105. We have six different price points to fit six different budgets. It’s always best to order your tickets in advance so you can get the very best seats available. Often as we approach a concert, ticket inventory can dwindle quickly. Order your tickets today!

For the most savings, purchasing a 7-concert subscription will save up to 20% over single tickets. Plus you keep your seat for the whole season. No waiting in lines or hoping there are tickets available. There are many additional benefits to being a subscriber.

What should I wear?

The most important thing is dress for comfort.

Classical Series concerts: some people love to wear fancy clothes for a night out and others wear what they might put on for a nice dinner. Either way, we are happy you will be joining us!

Family Series concerts are “nice casual,” but lots of our young patrons love to dress up.

Discovery Series rehearsals are casual all the way!

Youth Ensemble concerts (education): we suggest nice casual.

How long is the concert?

Santa Rosa Symphony Classical Series performances vary in length, depending upon the program, but are generally 2 to 2.25 hours, which includes a 20 minute intermission.

Family Series concerts are approximately 60 minutes and do not have an intermission.

Discovery Rehearsal series are 2.5 hours. They begin at 2:00 pm and end at 4:30 pm. There is a 15-minute intermission for rehearsals.

Youth Ensemble (education) concerts are approximately 1.5 hours and do not have an intermission. This could vary slightly depending upon the performance.

How can I learn more about the music before I go?

Learning more about the music on the program will change how you hear the music in the hall. We have several ways to help you learn more about the music in advance of your arrival, including Program Notes and Spotify playlists. For Classical series performances, one hour before the performance, there is a Concert Conversations in the hall. There’s no extra charge to ticket holders and it’s a wonderful way to enhance your concert experience.

Do you have disabled seating?

Yes! Wheelchair accessible seating is available on all three floors. Wheelchair accessible seating allows patrons to remain in the comfort of their chairs while enjoying the performance. Elevator service for Weill Hall is located on the north end of Person Lobby for access to the Choral Circle and Balcony. For assistance, please contact Patron Services at (707) 546-8742 to make arrangements. Accessible seating may also be purchased online.

Where do I park? (there’s no fee)

Parking lots are located across the street from Weill Hall at the Green Music Center and may be accessed by the main entrance on Rohnert Park Expressway. Parking is included with the price of your ticket – no additional parking fees will be collected upon arrival.

Is there a drop-off area and what about disabled parking?

Located in front of the Music Education Hall, the drop off area allows patrons with limited mobility an easier walk to the Green Music Center. If wheelchair assistance is needed, walk over to the Box Office upon your arrival to request assistance. Disabled parking is available near the entrances in parking lots L & O.
